Towards or Away from the Mountain

Writer NEIL GAIMAN – the best advice he never took…and walking towards or away from the mountain. The old rules are crumbling and no one knows what the new rules are!

Thanks for posting this, Ula. Neil Gaiman gave a fantastic commencement speech! I love how he begins by talking about how he never finished college himself, goes on to show how his whole life is dedicated to the practice of his art, and learning to do it better, and his wonderful and constant admonition to “make good art.” If you like fantasy, check out the movie, “Stardust” based on Gaiman’s novel of the same name. It is a wonderful fairy tale for grownups.

Thank you for letting me know FRAN – Gaiman gives a fantastic speech. I believe it’s relevant to any artist at any stage. I didn’t finish college either… There is no formula…we each carve out our path. I like his reminder from Stephen King – to enjoy things as we go! Now I look forward to “Stardust” – ÜLA

    Dear Ula,
The Neil Gaiman video is energizing, reassuring and as you said, inspiring. It’s a shot in the arm for writers, poets, painters, artists of all kinds, but would touch just about everyone, regardless of what they’re striving for. For me, the timing couldn’t have been better; I’m so grateful to you. Thank you, thank you.
